Catherine Pierce – Intern

Hi, my name is Catherine Pierce. I am 16 years old and currently a sophomore at Covenant Day School. I have lived in Matthews for my entire life and have started to appreciate the town more and more everyday. I have always had a passion for art and have been searching for a place that would allow me to grow in my passion and share it with other people as well. I have done art for as long as I can remember, whether it be an art class at school or sketching in my room. Art is the one way that I feel like I have the freedom to express myself while also expressing tough things in the world. Through this,  they don’t seem as scary and sometimes even turn out to be beautiful. Art has allowed me to deal with hard things in life and appreciate the beauty in those hard things. I am so excited to be a part of The Tipsy Paintbrush and look forward to growing artistically through this opportunity!

Brooke Drury – Intern

I’m Brooke Drury, I’m 14 years old, I attend providence high school, and I’ve been living in charlotte for 9 years now!
As a child I never really loved sports, but I always found an outlet in the arts. However, It wasn’t until middle school that I realized how much I was in love with visual arts! I had an amazing art teacher who inspired me to pursue learning more about this craft by entering me into contests and helping me see my potential. Ever since then I’ve made a point of finding inspiration in daily adventures and the world around me to translate into my work. I hope one day to attend Appalachian State University and pursue a degree in art teacher education, but i never know where I might end up!
I love downtown Matthews. Theres so many interesting things to do and people to meet. In general, North Carolina is just a beautiful place for any artist to be, and I am blessed to live here!
I am so excited to be an intern at the tipsy paintbrush, because it is truly an amazing place to be, and I cant wait to see what life has in store for me here!

Terry Davis

I have lived in the Charlotte, NC area now for 22 years. It’s a beautifully inspiring place to paint. I received a Bachelor of Elementary Education degree in Florida and furthered my art education with a degree from the Art Institute of Atlanta.
From there, I started my professional art career with my own successful business as a Trompe L’Oeil artist in the acrylic medium for residential customers. My work included decorative borders, wall murals, and wildlife in super realism. I continued my career as a portrait artist, where I am currently commissioned to paint beloved family pets and show horses.
In the past few years, I decided to begin submitting my work to art shows around the state and local area. Several of my landscape and animal paintings have been selected to appear in these juried statewide art shows and local shows. The most recent was at the Cornwell Center in Myers Park in June 2014. In November 2014, my work will be on display at the Matthews Community Center along with my fellow artists from the Piedmont Pastel Society.
I absolutely love working at The Tipsy Paintbrush. My hope is to inspire to create at every age.
